Last weekend, Andrea, the boys and I ventured up to Anaheim for a weekend visit to Disneyland. Compared to driving over from Phoenix, the car ride from San Marcos felt like a jaunt to the grocery store. I think Annual Passes are in order.
I’ve been on a number of Disney Cruises. Being a Castaway Club member definitely has its perks, but if there is one thing that I wish I could experience again and again, it’s the feeling and emotion of boarding a Disney boat for the very first time.
I admit, sometimes I’m really terrible at documenting my family’s life though photographs. I guess, I feel like my selective picture taking makes the pictures I do take, that more special. That’s probably wrong of me to think though. I just need to take more damn pictures.
I often find myself at a loss for words when someone asks me what my hobbies are. You know, you’re meeting some friends of a friend and you’re at a bar and someone’s like “So what do you like to do outside of work?” Ugh… My go to hobby usually includes music, you know, like listening to music. No actually, I’ll say music with the intention that the person knows or can figure out that I like to play the piano. The thing is I touch the piano today just about as much as I touch a fresh kale salad. I’m sorry, but I do not have an ongoing moonlighting piano gig every Thursday night. Although I have to admit, that sounds awesome to me right now. Honestly though, beyond music, it’s pretty much just me being a dad, and of course, work. Those aren’t hobbies. So I have to ask myself, “do I need to find a hobby?”
With no sea days in between Copenhagen and our first port of call in Norway, we were right back in the thick of things day 1. While my family (mom, dad, brother and sisters along with all their kids) ventured off on some bus tours, I decided to do my own exploring.
The past few days have been a whirlwind of an adventure for me, my wife and our family. Although my daily routine hasn’t changed much over the last few weeks, Andrea has done a tremendous amount of work keeping the boys happy, exploring San Diego and North County and staying positive while finding her next professional role.
Earlier this summer, Andrea, the boys and I ventured off to Europe with my family for a cruise through the Scandinavian waterways. Departing from Copenhagen, we hit a few ports in Norway, sailed up to Reykjavik and Akureri, Iceland, came back down to Kirkwall, Scotland and finished up in Dover, England. Along the way, we made ourselves right at home onboard the Disney Magic.
